We really take the opportuity to get to know our team members to learn what matters most to them - and we recognize that this does vary by individual. I am Becki Feldmann and I have been with the bank for five years. I think the biggest surprise working for Commerce is that our purpose is not just writing on a wall. You actually see it and get to live it every day, and you see others doing the same.

We really take the opportuity to get to know our team members and it's all about our purpose statement - to learn what matters most to them - and we recognize that this does vary by individual.

My interview was actually a plan that I got to build and deliver in my first year. From there, we continued to listen and learn  what mattered most to our team members. And that determined my next project to enhance the one to five year team member experience where we continually and intentionally looked for moments that matter in our team member lifecycle so that we could capture those moments and make sure that they were meaningful and that we were delivering what our team members expected.

If you want to build something, this is your place. I think about this statement one of my leaders said to me before I started here and I think about it almost daily because it's true. I do get to build, I do get to create, my ideas are valued here, and my ideas are made even better by the people around me.

I had a mentor and a leader back in the day who gave me a bookmark when he retired. It had a quote from a reverend on it that said, “Don't ask what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and go do that”. I haven't always lived my life that way. I was always doing what I thought the world needed and expected of me. I now recognize that when I ask myself what makes me come alive, that's when I can do my best work and I think that Commerce is a place where we do that with team members. We ask them, when are you at your best? How can we best support you? We identify what motivates them.

So you might think that Commerce is just about banking and,  some of it is, but mainly it's about relationships. Whether you're customer facing or internal customer facing, we're all about relationships. And so if you're good at that, this is going be a good place for you!
