Jamil Moody

Hi, my name is Jamil Moody. I'm a Senior Compliance Manager in Talent Management and I've been with the company going on 25 years.

What brought me to banking? Well, actually, I stumbled into banking. When I first started out, I went to a temporary service because I just needed a job. I worked there for eight weeks on a temporary basis until they hired me on full time. So banking wasn't even a thought that entered into my mind at the time that I started working here.

Even though I didn't know where I was going to be placed, I was familiar with Commerce Bank because of their reputation within the community. I knew they were well renowned and respected. What I thought of banking before I started, was that its just a place you went to cash checks or withdraw money and things like that. As I continues to work and grown within the company, I was surprised to see that there are so many career opportunities here that really don't have much to do with banking.

Over my 25 year career, Commerce has provided me many opportunities to be promoted. The people that I work with have always been a reason that I've tended to not only stick around, but also feel like that I was supported and given opportunities to grow within the bank. I certainly would recommend Commerce Bank for anyone that's considering employment. There are opportunities for everyone. 

When I started, I didn't know anything about banking. I didn't even have a bank account. I grew up in a small town and we had a bank, but I think the only reason we went in there was to get the free suckers! What I share with people all the time, is that I never would have thought to apply at a bank because I didn't have any banking experience, but believe it - its not a requirement! There are a lot of us who started without knowing anything about banking and here I am 25 years later - so if you're considering it, give it a shot!
